The ‘Competency Improvement for Volunteer Action (COMPACT)’ project took place between September 2023 and August 2024, building on the story of the previous collaboration under the ‘Improve your impact’ project (2020-2022). The project aimed to enhance employability through the evaluation of international volunteering experiences and offers young people an additional tool – an online application – where they can record their experiences and monitor their personal progress.
The transition to the labour market can be challenging. Making this part of the process easier for young people is a good idea. The focus of the project was on tangible experiences and, above all, on their evaluation for the purpose of further job search.
The focus of the COMPACT project was the IM-PROVE web application and the online handbook.
Both tools are available online and complement each other.
The handbook contains materials and resources and for organising activities on sustainability, management support, programme design and implementation with a focus on environmental issues. From leadership, conflict management, self-reflection, reflection and evaluation with the group, to social activities and games, and tips on how to work with the IM-PROVE web application, where all this knowledge, experience and competences acquired are recorded. You can also use it to plan your personal growth and monitor your progress.
The added value of the IM-PROVE web app is that it ‘translates’ the experience you have gained into the language of competences and HR/HR, thus facilitating the job search process. (It also translates your competences into the language of Youthpass and Europass, thus making it easier for you to fill them in.)
