World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

Today we remember that …

Suicidal thoughts and tendencies do not discriminate. Affects all ages, genders, and cultures and it is often linked to untreated mental health conditions, social isolation, and lack of access to resources and support.

Mental health plays an important role in the foundation and overall well-being of individuals (consequently communities on various levels). Yet stigma around these ‘elephants in the room’ and limited resources prevent many from reaching out towards support.

Tonight, on ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ we want to highlight the importance of community support systems. The importance of presence. Of the importance of Self-care, communication, fostering self-awareness, emotional resilience and with this (coping) skills.

“The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day (2024–2026) is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.”

Check in on the ‘strong people’ in your life and remember, we’re all learning how to live life as it unfolds.

“By breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide, we create a culture where people feel safe to seek help. It is vital to ensure that no one feels alone, and that everyone knows support systems and interventions are available.”

Take a pause. Return back to basics, to today, to ‘now’.

Did you get sufficient sleep today?

Did you drink enough water today?

Did you have a nutritious meal today?

Did you move your body today?

Did you nurture connection(s) within your social network today?

Did you remember to be kind to yourself today?

“How are you feeling?”

Take time. Reach out. No step is too small.
