Draw Your Success – Graphic Skills as a tool for acquiring new competences (2022)

A group of young people came together in our Volunteer Club to do a workshop on sketching and graphic facilitation “graphic facilitation”. The project aimed to empower young people to enhance their creativity, change their attitude towards handwriting and reduce their exposure to phones and computers in the digital age, which is currently affecting our mental health. Our group has come together through the solidarity initiative of the Volunteer Club, which is part of the Voluntariat Institute. We found a common interest among the volunteers and that is visual learning. In some of the Volunteer Club activities, we have found that visual types are the most popular among them by testing learning methods. In the activities we do, we have found that we bring a lot of visual stimuli into our lives. Visual learning methods help us to relieve stress and relax, but some people are not motivated to start learning these methods themselves or to use instructions on how to integrate these methods into their learning processes.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

  • Empowering young people to express themselves visually with confidence;
  • Motivate young people to include more handwriting in their learning processes;
  • To offer young people a way to help them cope in stressful situations;
  • Create a community of young people with similar interests and learning styles;
  • Offer quality learning for our Volunteer Club group;
  • Create an open and inclusive learning space;
  • To help young people acquire new and unique skills that they can use to improve their chances in the labour market;
  • Expand the youth work offer in Ljubljana with new skills for youth workers.
