We are searching a volunteer to join our ESC project as an assistant in a primary school in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This project is co-funded by European Solidarity Corps programe.
Project is lasting from September 2025 to 30th June 2026. You will be working with children aged 6 to 15 years old at Osnovna šola Majde Vrhovnik, which will be your hosting organisation. The project is coordinated by the organisation Zavod Voluntariat.
Your primary role will be to keep the students company and participate in activities prepared by the teachers and mentors. You are encouraged to bring your own knowledge and areas of strength to the process. You will have the opportunity to participate in all classes and engage in the learning process during lessons.
Activities you might be involved in include:
– joining in play and teaching-through-play with younger pupils,
– getting involved in sports, music, and art activities with older pupils,
– introducing your homeland during geography and history lessons
– helping students improve their foreign language skills (English or German) through conversation,
– you may also chaperone out-of-school activities like sports days, join a variety of after-school activities such as chess, sports, art, hiking, music, or reading,
– create your own interest group activity with a mentor, and help younger pupils with homework and encourage reading and play after lunch.
We are looking for volunteers aged between 18 and 30 who enjoy working with children and youth. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, explore, and experience the unknown with joy, explores their creativity, and embraces diversity, thinking constructively when resolving arguments. You should be creative and have a variety of ideas on how to support children in their activities.
From a practical standpoint, you will work 5 days a week, totalling 35 hours weekly. The typical working hours are from 9 am to 4 pm, or from 8 am to 3 pm upon prior agreement.
