TABOR  Onuma 1  (Hokkaido)  31/01-06/02  ARTS/ ENVI  10 vols. (5 int.)
Organized together with Onuma Milestone 22, a local NGO made by President of Fishermen’s Cooperative and Director of international exchange association since 2004. This is the first time to organize an international workcamp in winter. The number of tourists visiting to Onuma has been decreased in spite of wonderful nature, so we will assist their snow festival in order to not only invite more tourists, but also create an opportunity where local people can enjoy!
Work: We will clear the snow and make foot trails, cleaning up around the festival place and make snow statues with local people. Possibly, we will also help other work for the festival including PR to the tourists with wearing funny costumes of local popular characters.
Study theme: 100 years plan of the forests and sustainable town planning. Bring some info.!
Accommodation: Log house rent for this workcamp. Sleeping bag in necessary! Cooked by volunteers.
Location: South of Hokkaido island, in a national park near Hakodate city which is famous for romantic view in the night, especially for sweet couples!
Terminal: Sapporo (3 hours by express train). You need to arrive at Shin-Chitose (Sapporo) airport by 10:00 on 31 Jan. and can leave there after 12:00 on 06 Feb.
Leisure Activities: Excursion, joining the lake festival, exchange parties, etc.

TABOR V RUSIJI RU-SF 9.2 MULTIMATOGRAF: CREATE THE SPIRIT OF ART, 20.4. - 3.5.2012

Description: The camp is organized in cooperation with “Creative Group “TONNA”. It is a regional youth organization which aim is to support and develop creative potential and leadership skills of young people in our city and region. It promotes active citizenship, develops community and involves youth into cultural and social life so that they can contribute into development of civil society in our country. «Multimatograf: create the spirit of art» camp is a perfect opportunity to indulge oneself in the intercultural environment and take part in organizing one of the brightest events in the field of multimedia art in Russia. The festival general idea is a freedom of art and self-realization. The same idea is carried out and in the very working process. Festival organizers are primarily inspired young people, successful specialists of their kind in the region. These are the people who do the festival not for money, but because they love it! That's why the initiative, original approach and aspiration for self-realization are the things that are valued most of all. The festival will be implemented in 7th time. Type of Work: Work: volunteers will help to organize the festival: - making preparatory work with the art materials, - some paper work, - making the film about the festival, - work with participants of the festival. Volunteer also can be the participants of the festival and can show there own cartoons.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be organized in host families, 1-2 people in a room. Every family has their own kitchen and bathroom. Breakfasts will be organized in host families too. Lunches and dinners – at the office, cafe or in host families.

EVS V MAKEDONIJI - Volunteer in Mladiinfo Macedonia

Mladiinfo Macedonia is urgently looking for 1 volunteers for a 12 months service in our office in Skopje, Macedonia.  The service is starting in January 2012.
Apart from helping out in terms of daily web content update of www.mladiinfo.com,the volunteer will be involved in the activities planned to make this student support initiative more helpful and user-friendly.
Involvement in the initiation and implementation of upcoming projects is inevitable and included in the activity plans for the inclusion of an EVS volunteer.

TABOR NA JAPONSKEM NICE/11-119  Kyojima  (Tokyo)  20/12-26/12  CON, CUL  10 vols. (5 int.)

Organized together with planning committee  since 2009 (but first time for the 7days with NICE).  We got coorpolate with youth mall members, and planed volunteer program for helping regular events and shopping districts such as repairing old houses. So far, we had a project for the sports fiesta, visit local middle schools, dug potatoes in the community farm, renovating old longhouses. To fire up populated sparsely aging areas, locals (who start to live here and who was born in this place) set more unpretentious meeting a lot. And they tried helping young people, artists, and foreigners who have interested in this community, to live here.
Also setting a community place, make regional other musical events and so on.

W: We will work in the long house doing renovating such as helping local community to keep the old street in maintenance of the Kyojima town.
We can contribute to redevelopment through global voluntary power.
We will repair traditional house and helping local festival for the end of this year.

KRAJŠI TABOR NA IRSKEM - CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PROJECT, 23.12. - 27.12.2011

VSI is seeking 4 volunteers for a short Christmas Holiday project at Cuisle, Co. Roscommon IE VSI 4.12 in the west of Ireland from 23-27th December next. This short holiday project is to enable the wheelchair users who come to Cuisle to have an enjoyable and time during the holiday season. Volunteers will help out with socialising and interacting with the holiday guests and accompanying them on trips. The age and background of the guests varies, all the guests have physical disabilities and some may have speech impairments and/or learning disabilities. Activities will include lots of entertainment and music, if you play a musical instrument please bring it with you.

Description: The Irish Wheelchair Association is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the achievement of full social, economic and educational integration of people with physical disabilities, Cuisle is their holiday centre (www.cuisle.com). This short holiday project is to enable the wheelchair users who come to Cuisle to have an enjoyable and time during the holiday season.

Type of Work: Socialising and interacting with the holiday guests and accompanying them on trips. The age and background of the guests varies, all the guests have physical disabilities and some may have speech impairments and/or learning disabilities. Activities will include lots of entertainment and music, if you play a musical instrument please bring it with you. Volunteers are also asked to help in the kitchen for approximately one hour each day. Volunteering at Cuisle is a lot of fun and is a very rewarding experience.

Accommodation: Dorm. Meals are provided by the centre.

Language: Good English needed

Qualifications: Volunteers need flexibility, initiative and independence.

Terminal Location: Cuisle is situated 20km west of Roscommon town in the west of Ireland

Notes: mportant: Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection procedures will be applied; on receipt of volunteers' application forms VSI will request a Police Check, the names and contact details of two referees whom VSI will contact directly and a declaration form (stating the absence of a criminal record that would prevent the volunteer from working with children or vulnerable adults). The volunteer will also be asked to complete a questionnaire. Important: Please send the volunteer application form first and VSI will send details of these extra requirements, this will ensure a place is reserved for volunteers. Chelyabinsk is a large industrial city in Russia. The population of Chelyabinsk is more than a million inhabitants. Chelyabinsk - a very young city, there are many young people. The city has well developed children's and youth organizations.

Work: Volunteers will work in a youth leaders` camp. The camp is organized by regional youth social organization «Prodvizhenie». The main aim of the organization is to promote ideas of social work among young people. The main idea of the camp is to organize study meeting for young leaders of youth organizations to attract their attention to the issue of social responsibility.
Volunteers will prepare master-classes about their countries and volunteer movement. Also they will take part in discussions about social problems and role of young people in social life of country. At the end of the camp volunteers will help young leaders to organize different social actions and events.
The camp will have 2 parts:
-        preparation of the meeting (volunteers will live in the city),
-        Implementation of the meeting programme (volunteers will live in the recreation center).

Leisure time: sightseeing tour, skating, international evenings, Russian banya.

Accommodation and food: The first week volunteers will live in the flat (2-3 people in the room) and will prepare food by themselves.  The second week volunteers will live in the recreation center in the rooms for 2-3 people. The food will be provided in the canteen.

Language: English.

Age: 18-30

Terminal: Chelyabinsk train station or airport.

TABOR V TURČIJI, TR-GEN 8.01 LEARNING TOGETHER, 16.1. - 6.2.2012

Description: GEN-W01 LEARNING TOGETHER-1 OSMANIYE 16.01.12 – 06.02.12 SOCI – 5 VOLS

Osmaniye University is willing to host a group of volunteers in order to have a cultural exchange program with and for their students. Although the main task of the volunteers will be practicing English with the university students, they are also expected to run some workshops or other activities for the students. The students are 19-25 age group and the volunteers can be between 20-40 years old. Volunteers will have a chance to have very close contact with the students and learn a lot about them and Turkey.

Type of Work: W: Using English as a tool to encourage the students to practice, organizing activities for the university students, being friend with them and having cultural exchange.

Study Theme: -

Accommodation: A: In the guest house of the university. F: Will be supplied in the university.

Language: LA: English.

Qualifications: R: Volunteers need not to be a native speaker but a good level of English is necessary. A motivation letter must be sent together with the application form.

Terminal Location: LO: Osmaniye is a city in the South of Turkey and in the middle of of three important cities.

“VOLUNTARY SERVICE 2.0”

About the training course

The main aim of this training course is to build the capacities of both the participants and organisations to bring their existing voluntary services (local, national and/or international) to a higher level of quality volunteer management and to enhance the visibility of those services. Within the TC 'Voluntary Service 2.0' practical handbook, 'Efficient voluntary service' will be developed and it will contain concrete tools, methods and tips for improving existing voluntary services. The handbook will contribute to a better dissemination of the project outcomes and it will be available to all interested organisations, either as electronic or paper copies.

The objectives of the training course are:

  • To discuss values of volunteering and create a common understanding of the positive impact that volunteering has on individuals, groups and societies;
  • To enable and prepare participants to implement new and effective methods in volunteer management and make existing services more visible;
  • To improve the infrastructure for volunteer activities, e.g. create spaces for gathering and accepting volunteers;
  • To compare the methodology of different volunteering programmes and find possibilities to transfer positive examples from existing practices;
  • To empower participants to multiply the effects of this training course in their organisations and increase competences on how to create, implement and promote volunteering activities;
  • To encourage, support and facilitate future co-operation between participants/organisations and promote international exchange of volunteers and intercultural understanding;
  • To support the volunteer initiative and public actions that affect the local community;

 

The participants should fulfil the following criteria:

  • Age above 18
  • Willing to get involved as management of voluntary services (either as leaders or assistants) in their organizations
  • Able to work in English
  • willing to share the new knowledge with the members of their organization upon return
  • Able to attend the entire duration of the course

There is place for 19 participants altogether.

 

Travel and visa costs reimbursement

As usual in the Youth in Action programme, 70% of travel costs will be reimbursed. We kindly ask you not to fly unless it is necessary. The reimbursement will be done when we receive your original tickets (ie. when you send them to us, after the training course).

WORKCAMP FI-KVT 1.3 MAILMAANTALKOOT - GLOBAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE / WINTER

8.1. - 21.1.2012

Description: KVT Finland (Finnish branch of SCI) hosts a project which is a part of an educational project called “Maailmantalkoot”. The Maailmantalkoot initiative supports KTV’s principles of solidarity, tolerance and international cooperation. The Maailmantalkoot project aims to gather native and migrant communities together through workshops that are mainly held in school settings. Specifically for this project, KVT invites asylum seekers, refugees and people with an immigrant background to take part in the Global Education Initiative held in Northern Finland in January 2012. The aim is to bring people from different backgrounds together to construct and deliver workshops in local schools for young people between the ages of 14-19. These workshops will utilise mixed methods of delivery including media, drama and debating. Therefore, volunteers with special interest and knowledge of performing arts, media, youth work and education are welcomed! Maailmantalkoot-project’s main aim is to bring together local young people with international and Finnish volunteers in order to make them think, explore and share opinions and experiences on global issues such as human rights, migration, discrimination and equality. Furthermore, the Maailmantalkoot project is being supported by the Development Co-operation Fund of the Finnish Foreign Ministry. For this project we are looking for four (4) volunteers from abroad and (8) volunteers from Finland, of which four (4) are required to have an immigrant background.

Type of Work: : During the first days of the project, volunteers will develop, practice and assess the workshop ideas prepared by KVT. At the end of the first week and during the second week volunteers will run workshops in secondary, vocational and high schools in Kemi and Tornio. During the workshops, volunteers will divide into smaller groups in order to maximize the potential of the delivery of these workshops. During evenings the aim is to offer and create opportunities to mix with the local community members and to become familiar with the Finnish winter activities!

Study Theme: Questions of global trends in migration and especially the issue of a forced migration and the status of refugees in the sending countries of the volunteers will be discussed together with questions of human rights, discrimination and equality. Secondly, through collaboration with the Red Cross Reception center for asylum seekers in Kemi, the status of asulym seekers and refugees in Finland will be explored. Volunteers are also requested to prepare material before attending the project in Finland. Further instructions will be sent in due course.

Accommodation: Dormitory accommodation with cooking facilities.

Qualifications: Good command of English language is needed. Willingness to speak and stand in front of a classroom is necessary and interest in visiting schools and collaborating with local youth is essential in order to become a successful candidate. Therefore, a positive and outgoing attitude is a must! Motivation letter needed.

Terminal Location: Tornio and Kemi in North-West of Finland. The distance between these two municipalities is about 30 km. Closest train station is in Kemi. Closest airports are in Kemi-Tornio, Oulu and Rovaniemi. This is a chance to see Northern Finland during the winter so be prepared for snow, cold and long nights!
